Eng. Aysha Alharam
Chief of the Satellite Department, Bahrain Space Agency
Aysha Alharam is the Chief of the Satellite Department at the Bahrain Space Agency, where she leads national satellite programmes and oversees the development and operation of space missions that support environmental monitoring, innovation, and national development. She has played a central role in managing Bahrain’s flagship satellite projects and advancing the Kingdom’s capabilities in satellite systems, ground infrastructure, and space data applications.
With a strong background in space systems engineering, Aysha has contributed to international collaborations and represents Bahrain in regional and global space forums. Her work focuses on leveraging satellite technologies to address national priorities, enhance sustainability, and strengthen technological resilience.
She is a member of the Youth Empowerment Committee across the public and private sectors, contributing to national initiatives that support young leaders and future innovators. Since 2014, she has published more than 55 peer-reviewed scientific papers in the fields of space systems and advanced technologies.
Beyond her technical leadership, Aysha is deeply committed to capacity building and inspiring university students to pursue careers in space, engineering, and emerging technologies.
Dr. Abdulla Isa Alabbasi
Director of the Energy and Environmental Studies Program, Bahrain Center for Strategic, International, and Energy Studies (Derasat)
Dr. Abdulla Isa Alabbasi is a leading expert in sustainability, energy transition, and AI-driven energy systems, with extensive experience across industry, research, policy development, and strategic implementation. He serves as Director of the Energy and Environmental Studies Program at the Bahrain Center for Strategic, International, and Energy Studies (Derasat), where he leads work on renewable energy integration, climate policy, grid modernization, and decarbonization strategies.
He is the founder of Bahrain’s first Artificial Intelligence Renewable Energy (AIRE) Laboratory, a pioneering initiative that applies advanced digital tools and analytics to support energy innovation, infrastructure resilience, and evidence-based policymaking. The lab provides decision-makers with data-driven insights to accelerate the energy transition and align national strategies with global climate objectives.
Dr. Alabbasi has also led and contributed to several international research initiatives in collaboration with organizations such as the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), universities, and global think tanks. His work reflects a multidisciplinary approach that integrates technology, sustainability, and policy to address the challenges of the global energy transition.
